Designed to protect the harbour, the old lighthouse or Mangturm was erected in the 13th century. The name Mangturm originates from the cloth or mangle house, which used to stand next to it. Following a lightning strike in the summer of 1979, the roofing was renewed using tiles in the style of the last century.
